Medical Aid arrives for Java Landslide while over 45,000 houses are flooded
in several regions.

On Dec 29, 2007, an amount of 268 pounds (122 kg) medical supplies was
been delivered to the Tawangmangu subdistrict in Central Java for the
victims of the December 25, 2007 landslide.

The four members of HOPE worldwide disaster relief team decided to re-route their end of year plan to drive one and a half day to bring hope for the destitute. Roads to
Tawangmangu was also cut off by the landslides, which cleared after the
third day.

There has been different reports regarding the number of casualties; ranging from 81 to 120 deaths. Number of houses affected by the landslide & floodings are estimated to be 45,000 houses in areas such as Solo, Ngawi , Bojonegoro, and Lamongan. HOPE worldwide disaster relief team is also distributing hygiene kits & ready-to-eat meals to 600 IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) in Solo on the last day of 2007.

At least the people can end their year with clean shower and a meal on their
stomach. Clean up tools will be required by the victims once the water has
decreased.
